"Wonderful, friendly & economic NY City convenient hotel....."
Belfast
I have had the misfortune of staying in Manhattan hotels several times and have realized that, unless you are lucky enough to be able to pay in excess of $300 per night, you can expect to stay in a cramped, probably rat-ridden, claustrophic and old fashioned room!! Much as it might be convenient to be in a hotel in the middle of Manhattan, the elevated and extortionate prices do not justify the uncomfortable room conditions.
The Pan American is the ideal solution for the traveller who requires economy without loss of quality.....I know - it sounds too good to be true.
Basically, the Pan Am is 3 blocks away from the subway which runs right into all parts of Manhattan! Queens Mall....which is probably larger and WAY better value than ALL of the malls in MH, is a 10min walk away. While staying in the Pan Am, I actually had the opportunity to meet REAL New Yorkers - those who live and work there.......
"Perfect Hotel For A Trip To New York"
Birmingham
This is the perfect hotel for a trip to New York. Hotel offers a free shuttle to and from airport just call them tell them you have arrived and they come and collect you.
Although it is outside Manhattan we had no problems catching the subway everyday to where we needed to go. In fact it is a better way to travel as you get to travel with the real New Yorkers. Queens was a safe place to stay and we had no problems about security although you use your own initiative and wouldn't go walking alone on a dark night which is the same rules you have at home. Subway was literally 5mins walk from hotel. Hotel wasn't the newest but rooms are spacious and clean and considering all you do is sleep in them then it is perfect. Staff are extremely friendly and offer all amenities you just have to ask. As this was my first stay in New York I would definately go back to the Pan American and was told by a native New Yorker I did well to find this hotel as it comes highly recommended by people who live there. I would recommend you plan your trip beforehand and not to go on the day trips offered by hotels or other tour reps as there are loads to do and you get to move at your own leisure.
"Lived up to my expectations"
California
I stayed at this hotel to avoid spending a fortune staying in a Manhattan Hotel. While I did not spend much time at the hotel except to sleep, I have to say, it fits my needs. The Staff were very friendly and helpful. The room was comfortable and clean. I ate at Dukes Restaurant downstairs. I found the food very good and reasonably priced.
It was very easy getting into Manhattan by subway. However, it did take about 40 minutes on the E train. But the E train will drop you off in Times Square.
I enjoyed staying at this hotel and would do so again next time I go to New York. My trip was a short one so it was convenient being located between Manhattan and the airport.
I loved Queens, it was a real nice community. Hopefully, my next trip to New York will be longer so I can spend a little time in Queens too.
"Thanks again, Pan American!"
Phoenix
This is our second stay at the Pan American. I have to say, this is by far the best value in the NYC area. The location is great - easy access to the subway, good restaurants nearby and convenient to the Brooklyn-Queens Expressway. Our family lives in the Williamsburg section of Brooklyn, and it was only a short drive away. We love the fact that we don't have to pay for parking at this hotel. Plus, the small refrigerator in the room is a nice touch. The staff here is great - and they are very helpful. It is not a luxury hotel, but it is clean, comfortable and affordable. FYI - for folks who are going to the Statue of Liberty, is is about an hour ride on the subway so plan accordingly.
"Great lodging option for the tight-budgeted....outside Manhattan."
San Juan
Out of the many hotels I've stayed in NYC, Pan American Hotel has been by far, the best. Quite affordable, EXCELLENT customer service, comfy and impeccable room in a very nice area in Queens. It may take a little to get to Manhattan (20-30 minutes train ride), and the sub station is like 15 minutes walk, but the area is so safe and nice, you won't mind it at all. Overall, a great experience and we wouldn't think twice about staying here again cause we felt like home outside ours.
Traveler's tip on getting the most out of your stay. Don't forget your 7-day ride x $24.00 pass, it'll save you loootsa cash. Around the hotel are many nice restaurants and malls you can go have dinner and do shopping if Manhattan gets impossible for you.
"Affordable and decent hotel"
Decent hotel for the money, especially in NYC. About a 7-8 minute walk to the nearest subway at Grand Ave/Newtown (R,V,G lines). There you can catch the local trains to Manhattan or out into Queens further. You can transfer at Roosevelt Ave (2 stops away on the R, G, V lines heading toward Manhattan) for an Express F or E train to get into Manhattan faster. Hotel has very affordable airport shuttle to either LGA or JFK for $6/person. Very convenient service. Affordable and decent hotel.
"Great room very convenient location"
The staff was extremely courteous and the service was excellent. The room was clean, comfortable and the temperature was perfect when we checked although it was a very cold day. The highlight of our stay was the hotel lounge with entertainment. We danced until the wee hours of the morning without having to leave the building. That was more than we expected as we enjoy dancing. Overall a good experience.
"Great room for the money"
We booked this big room with double beds for our 4 people, and found it very comfortable. It conveniently locates by the shopping place (for food and necessities) and very close to the metro station. Its quiet and safe neighborhood. The staff is friendly. Especially, the hotel has free internet access for each guest to use within 20 minutes, this is very helpful. However, if you have your own laptop, it's convenient too 'cause they have free wireless at the lobby.
